If you look outside our church, beneath the awning off Walnut Street, you’ll see something new and meaningful: “Sarah’s Essentials Station.” This station is part of a heartfelt senior project by Sarah, a local high school senior with a mission to show the love of God by helping those in need.
Sarah’s inspiration for this project comes from her faith and personal family history. “As a believer, we are called to help others who are unable to help themselves,” Sarah explains. She recalls how, when her parents first arrived in America, they faced challenges meeting basic needs. With that memory in mind, Sarah’s Essentials Station aims to alleviate some of the stress that comes from limited access to food and hygiene resources. Her hope is that people will find comfort and support through her project.
Sarah has set up her Essentials Stations at Broad Street UMC, Yokefellow, and a local school, each stocked with non-perishable food items and hygiene products for anyone in need. She will regularly refill the stations as people come and take what they need. Her mission, based on Matthew 5:14-16, is “making my community a better place by letting my light shine.”
If you feel moved to contribute to Sarah’s Essentials Station, please consider donating supplies or reaching out to Sarah directly. And help us spread the word! Sarah’s station is here to serve and support our community, one thoughtful item at a time.
